With the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games fast approaching, Podium (the further and higher education unit for the 2012 Games) sought a mechanism to promote British Expertise in the field of a academia. Swerve were asked to design and create a public facing database to share the details of UK academics and experts with media organisations and members of the public, helping to generate exposure in the build up to the Games.
We designed the Games Experts database to provide a user friendly resource for worldwide members of the press and media. An easy-to-use registration form allows academics to register their details, with the Podium team able to review and approve them before publishing them to the website itself. Meanwhile an intuitive search and filtering functionality allows press and media organisations to find an appropriate expert to meet their requirements.
With the build up to the 2012 Games reaching a climax, the Games Experts website provides an elegant and effective platform from which UK academics can promote their expertise. Within the first month over 85 experts had signed up to the database, providing an invaluable resource to the press and media who will be descending on London during 2012.
